The saying goes “a mother’s love knows no boundaries”. This was exemplified perfectly by a pooch in Russia recently when she adopted a leopard cub.
Steffanie, a leopard cub born in the Sadgorod Zoo in Vladivostok, was rejected by her mother Alyona right after birth. In desperate need of a new mom, the cub was offered to the owner of a very special spaniel named Sherry.
Having recently given birth to 6 puppies, Sherry took the cub in immediately and is now caring for 7 young ones without a care in the world.
According to Sergey Asnovin, head of the Sadgorod Zoo, this is the second time that Alyona has refused to feed her young. In addition, she is known to turn on her cubs so quickly that she had to be distracted with meat straight after giving birth, in order to save her recent cub.
Luckily for the little one, Sherry was there to offer a paw, and is currently feeding the 1-month old cub, as bottle feeding is difficult.
