Do we need to say more than there’s a beautiful white sand, blue ocean, Island where you get to play with the most adorable rescue puppies! Pack your bags dog lovers!

Potcake Place, a dog rescue charity on the tiny Caribbean island of Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, was started by Jane Parker-Rauw in 1997, when she noticed how many stray puppies were on the Island. When trying to find the puppies homes she noticed many were wary of people and the idea to let volunteers take the puppies for “socialisation walks” was born. Started in 2010 the idea quickly capture the hearts of the Islands residents and many tourists.

The walks take place in the morning, when visitors can take the puppies down to the beach before it gets to hot, to splash around in the ocean and play in the sand. only done with dogs who have been vaccinated and dewormed. Each walker gets a puppy bag for their dog with a bottle of water, toys, treats and of course poop bags, to ensure the beach stays clean. The puppies are walked with a harness, collar and leash.

And even though it looks like a fun tourist activity, Jane wants people to understand that the walks are more than just this. “We have found these short puppy excursions to be invaluable to the puppy’s development,” she told BuzzFeed. “These interactions with nice people both in and out of the adoption center really help to give them confidence that yes. We have seen hundreds of times a very shy puppy just excel and develop over a short time this way. It’s lovely.”

The shelter and its walks also help more than 500 puppies get adopted every year.
